Gemma launches franchise concept at CFA Show
Oct 24, 2009 - 02:15 PM

Established Canadian business brokerage firm Gemma Business Brokers, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is introducing its new franchise concept to business professionals looking to develop a practice within a growing industry.

Launching at The Franchise Show, Canada’s largest all-franchise show, in Toronto, October 24-25, 2009, Gemma Business Brokers offers candidates the opportunity to set up a brokerage in markets across the country, and in the U.S., with proven systems and state of the art training. Committed to providing outstanding support and training to its franchise partners, Gemma Business brokers also offers ongoing career development opportunities for its network through an exclusive arrangement with eCornell University now in place.

“Business brokerage is a growing industry in Canada,” says Maurice Muise, founder of Gemma Business Brokers. “The opportunity is limitless for professionals looking to assist buyers and sellers of businesses to maximize and facilitate a buy/sell transaction.”

Muise continues, “Statistics and research are heavily favouring the business brokerage industry.  The ageing of the baby boomer population in the United States and Canada has an increasingly large number of business owners who are looking to sell their businesses. For us, choosing to franchise in order to expand our business across the country to meet demand makes perfect sense.”

Franchising is no longer fast food restaurants and convenience stores. In fact, the franchise industry is now active in over 30 business, service and retail sectors and growth in the business category grew 44% over last year, according to a survey by the Canadian Franchise Association, as measured by its annual directory.

Founded in 1998 by Maurice (Moe) Muise, under the banner Gemma Group, Gemma Business Brokers today is a prominent and respected Canadian-based business brokerage and M&A firm specializing in custom-designed advisory services to small and medium-sized businesses. A member of the International Business Brokers Associations (IBBA) and the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA), It is now positioning itself to be a global franchisor of business broker franchises.

Among the services if offers are: establishing a most probable selling price (MPSP) Value, conducting buyer searches, marketing businesses to prospective buyers, coordinating buy/sell negotiations and providing overall deal management to guide our clients through the entire buy/sell/merger process.

“The ongoing support, advice and experience that a franchisor provides to his or her franchisees can guide them through difficult times and position them well to take advantage of any economic climate,” says Lorraine McLachlan, CFA President and CEO. “In addition, franchisees are part of a network of businesses and can rely and draw on the strengths, successes and ideas of other franchisees in the system.”
